Inspired by her yes,
so we can say yes.
Welcome, Dear Sister!
Inspired by Mary’s “yes!” in Luke 1:38 and the Exodus90 Lenten Challenge for men, Fiat90 challenges women to embark on a similar 90-day Lenten journey leading up to the Easter season. Filled with disciplines in the daily, spiritual, and communal aspects of our lives, Fiat90 challenges us to step into the women whom God has called us to be and embrace our authentic femininity.
Although the program includes structure and discipline, each woman is encouraged to adapt the practices according to her health, vocation, responsibilities, and personal discernment. Fiat90 is intentionally designed to meet women where they are. We recognize that every woman is unique and that each of us relates to God in different ways. Because of this, the 90-day journey will naturally look different from woman to woman—and that diversity is part of its beauty.
When Do I Start Fiat90?
Women can begin Fiat90 at any time of the year, but many choose to align their 90-day journey with significant moments in the liturgical calendar to deepen the spiritual meaning of their sacrifice and devotion.
The most popular start time is leading up to Easter, allowing the disciplines to mirror the penitential spirit of Lent and culminate in the joy of the Resurrection. However, Fiat90 can also be beautifully lived in preparation for a Marian feast day, such as the Annunciation or the Assumption, inviting participants to grow in imitation of Mary’s virtues in a focused way. Others may choose to begin leading up to Christmas, embracing a spirit of simplicity and preparation during Advent, or around other meaningful feast days that resonate personally.
Ultimately, the best time to start is when you feel called and ready to commit, trusting that God will work through your “yes,” just as He did through Mary’s fiat.

The Foundations of Fiat
Anchor (Sisterhood)
These 90 days are not meant to be done alone, and ideally done with a small group. That can look like one other person, or up to 3-5 other individuals.
Daily check-ins will be done with your “Anchor” (who is a person – friend, sister, someone from church, etc. that you check in with daily for encouragement, accountability, and prayer and vice versa).
Weekly meetings will be done with your small group (this may just be you and your Anchor, and that’s okay). This time is meant to be a deeper conversation of how your week is going and identifying where God has been present. The outline for Small Group Meetings can be found in the Fiat90 booklet/guide.
Discipline
The disciplines are meant to be invitations to enter deeper into holiness, not burdens. As explained above they will not look the same for everyone. For example, fasting will look different for a mother who is pregnant and/or small children or someone who has health/dietary restrictions.
Daily Disciplines – are disciplines that will ask you to give up the unnecessary distractions in our daily lives. When living these disciplines you will find that you have a lot more time in schedule.
Spiritual Disciplines – are disciplines you are encouraged to discern where God is calling you to work on in your relationship with Him. Some questions to ponder are “What will help me grow closer to Christ?” or “Where is Jesus inviting me to focus on my spiritual growth?”
Spiritual Adoption
You are invited to “adopt” a soul in prayer, someone God places on your heart or an unknown person in need of grace. This could be an unborn child, a struggling family member, or a soul who has no one to pray for them. Each day, you offer your prayers, sacrifices, and acts of love for their good. In this way, you quietly share in Mary’s maternal heart, interceding for the world with a hidden yet powerful “yes” to God’s will.
During the span of the 90 days, you can choose to pray for one individual for all 90 days. You can also choose to do 1/week (13 individuals) or 1/month (3 individuals). The only recommendation is that you are spiritually adopting only one individual at any given time.
Your Questions, Answered
-
As Catholics, Mary plays an instrumental role in our faith and growing in virtue and grace in living out God’s plan for our lives. The Blessed Mother was the first woman to Yes to God and Trust him with her whole being and her child. And as it brought her great sorrow and pain, she continued to say Yes to God’s plan even though she was to experience the great heartbreak and piercing suffering. Our Lady knows the struggles we face each day and is there constantly to take our prayers to her Son.
-
The 90 days leading up to Easter is most common, because of the aspect of Jesus living his most difficult days leading up to his crucifixion and Resurrection. And He calls us as Christians to unite ourselves in his suffering and offering up our worldly pleasures to serve him and the people he has placed in our lives.
-
Not each discipline is mandatory, and there is a point where there can be too many disciplines to be able to focus and be intentional about these 90 days. Leading up to the start of Fiat90, take to prayer the list of disciplines, and ask God which ones he is calling you to take on. The disciplines are meant to be lived out with intention and love. When we get to a point where we are miserable and distressed trying to keep up, we are not giving God our best or the people around us. The disciplines are going to be a struggle and will not be pleasant, but be aware if it is causing you distress and/or pulling you away from your relationship with Christ. That is not the intention.

Yes! Fiat90 is for women of all ages and in any season of life. Will it look different than others? Yes, most definitely. And that is what is beautiful. As a mother, you have specific responsibilities and a vocation to care for your children. For disciplines, be intentional about which disciplines you want. If it is only 2 or 3, that is okay! Your sacrifice in taking on those few things is wonderful, and God is going to make it good and beautiful. It is about living with intentionality, growing closer to Christ, and loving your family.
If you are pregnant, making sure you are taking care of yourself and your baby and eating a well-balanced diet is a priority. Fasting will look different, and that is okay.

Fasting can look different for everyone. The traditional form of fasting is defined as limiting the presence of food in our lives, for the purpose of offering a small sacrifice in union with the Lord’s sacrifice on the cross. This is typically done by limiting the amount of food eaten at meals or limiting the number of meals eaten during the day. The typical fasting recommended is one large (normal-sized) meal and 2 smaller meals. The order of these can be in whichever order works best for you (ex. Small breakfast, normal lunch, small dinner).
Each person’s relationship to fasting will look different, and struggles will differ greatly. It is normal to struggle and feel miserable in limiting our food intake, especially if we are new to it.
If you have dietary needs or struggle with a healthy relationship with food. On days of fasting, below are some suggestions:
Fasting from just sweets and focusing on eat full well balanced diet.
Fast from a specific thing on those days (phone, social media, coffee, etc.)
Take on an intentional action (intentional time with family, call a friend you have spoken to in a while, writing someone a letter, knowing you are praying and thinking of them.
God will see anything you choose as an act of Love and sacrifice and will see it as a gift for him. You are Beautiful, Strong, and Loved.

Fiat90 is not for everyone. Every individual’s faith and relationship with God is different, and this is not the end all, be all. We highly recommend having some sort of extra support and community during this time. If you are unable to find a friend to do Fiat with, consider reaching out to your parish and asking if there may be some woman in your parish who may be interested.
-
It can be a friend, sister, mother/daughter, someone you met through church or small group.
-
Fiat90 is about progress, not perfection. The aim is to grow in faith and reliance on God, not to achieve a checklist.
-
Struggles are a natural part of Fiat90. Use these moments as an opportunity to pray, seek grace, and rely on your Anchor. Growth comes through perseverance.
If you continue to struggle, consider replacing the discipline with a different one or taking a break from it.
-
Fiat90 is rooted in Catholic Marian devotion, but women from other Christian backgrounds who resonate with the practice are welcome.
-
Absolutely. Those with medical conditions or dietary needs can adjust fasting to suit their health. Fasting is about detaching from excess, not endangering health.
Fasting can look like choosing not to have a snack in the afternoon, or saying no to a sweet treat.
Please do not risk your health to partake in the typical “requirements” for fasting. There are other forms of fasting other than food (ex. technology, television, complaining, gossiping etc.)
-
Not at all! Fiat90 is designed for anyone seeking to deepen her faith, regardless of her starting point. The program encourages personal spiritual growth at any stage.
